Can anyone teach me how to use the gmt functions on my watch?

Hi. I'm an example of the moonswatch hype getting someone into watches. I saw a moonswatch and vaguely knew about the speedmaster and thought they looked cool so bought one. And as I put it on my wrist the watch bug bit me, BOOM, watches all over my insta feed and watching countless hours of "nico Leonard" and "bens watch club" gaining valuable knowledge until recently, at 17 years old, I pulled the trigger on my first "proper" Swiss watch. But I don't know how to use the bezel and 4th hand for different time zones so can someone help? 😅

Hey Elliot, their are plenty of YouTube videos that can show you how to use the GMT function. Whether you have a Flyer or Caller GMT.

The bezel one is fairly simple. You rotate the bezel so the hours line up with a time zone you want to check. So for example my local time it is 4 pm. I want to track the time in Amsterdam which is +8hrs which would mean it 12. So you just rotate the bezel so the 12 on the bezel lines up with the 4 on your watch.

As for the 4th hand you can usually change it with the crown. I would look up a specific video or guide for your watch just to be sure your are doing it correctly!

Yeah most videos I see are ones where you can move the local hour hand independently but on this watch I can move the 4th hand independently instead which is confusing

I think Teddy Baldasserre or Long Island Watch have good videos on YouTube that can show you. Try narrowing the search to caller GMTs.

You have an office GMT. Look up setting an office GMT, or check the Seiko GMT videos.

In general, first position is date, second position will be GMT hand, and third position will be time.

So does the gmt hand correspond to the bezel and not the dial units?

So does the gmt hand correspond to the bezel and not the dial units?

Correct. The GMT hand can follow your second time you want to track. I have my watch set to my local time with the GMT hand tracking Sydney time.

Yes. The GMT hand will be a 24 hour hand and will align to the bezel.

Thanks mate, I've just been playing around with the watch and it all just clicked in my brain how it works. I think I can delete this post now haha

Quick summary

Set main hour and minute hands to local time. These hands will function as usual, and go around the dial 2 times per 24 hours.

Set the GMT hand to whatever time zone you want to track. This hand will move at half speed, so it will only go around the dial 1 time in 24 hours. It uses military time so for example, if you’re setting it to 2pm, the GMT hand needs to point to 14 as noted on the bezel.
