I thought I'd try a leather strap on this watch. Seems that despite one end of the spring bar having a smaller bar fitting within a larger outer, ( as per a springbar) it doesn't have a flange to engage with my springbar removal tool. Also this feature is only on one side. Doesn't rotate within the lugs.
Guessing it's a fixed bar then?
Thoughts anyone?
Slightly eccentric, wicked sense of humour. Self confessed watch cheapskate, who tinkers with watches. Love motorbikes, to date, I've ridden about 250,000 miles, 113,000 of which are on my BMW 1150GS....

I take it the lugs are not drilled? Drilled lugs can make it easier to remove weird spring bars.

Nope not drilled.
I doubt it's a true fixed bar (your Precimax doesn't look like it was a military watch), just a dirty, rusted-out, flangeless spring bar. You're probably going to need a thin knife or knife-like blade (or fishing line/thread) to get between the edge of the lugs & the bar to get it out. If your Speidel bracelet is also spring-loaded at the ends, then it gets much easier (you could even just cut the spring bar).

A dribble of WD40 I think.

Also, it was not unusual for bracelets from the '50s-'60s to only have an opening on 1 side to access spring bars. The original-issue Rowi Fixoflex that came w/my c.1960 Glycine Airman shares that "feature" (modern Fixoflexes have 2 openings). I'm guessing that in those more utilitarian times, watch owners didn't swap out bracelets & straps all the time & this was considered more secure.

I'm feeling rather cynical about that working for me. Thank you though. 😊
I’ve only used this method once on a stubborn spring bar, and admittedly it took a few attempts but it did work in the end.

Used my case back tool, worked a treat, after failing with dental floss. 😊

19mm straps are not that common! Job done, not sure if it's better on the Speidal? 😂🙄 I'll give it time.
19mm lugs strap options are limited for sure, but I think the strap paired with the watch looks really nice.👍

Plain leather strap focuses the attention on the watch. When it had the Spiedel fitted, it was a visual competition between the two.
