Question on crown action on SW200 movement

Sorry if this is a silly question. I have a watch with a Sellita SW200 movement and a screw-down crown. When the crown pops, the movement will wind, 1st position adjusts date, 2nd position adjusts time. When I go to screw the crown back down the movement is winding until the crown is all the way screwed down. Is this normal? Should the movement be winding as the crown is screwed down?

I think that depends on the modification, which has been done by the manufacturer. I have two watches with a Sellita SW 200. The sinn 104 does not wind. The Heinrich Taucher 2 does....

Sounds normal to me.

Ahhh, that makes sense. Good deal. I love the watch so that is good. Won't need to return it. Thank you for comments

Normal operation. Because of the way the clutch works within the movement, the crown stem is considered to be in the winding position unless pulled out to one of the other positions.

The crown is always screwed to the stem and is spring loaded to allow the crown to be screwed down without jamming the stem further into the movement. The actual stem has only 3 positions.

It’s normal. It depends on the brand and how they modify the SW or even ETA movement. Some will wind as you screw in the crown, some will not wind as you screw in the crown. All my Seiko’s wind until the crown is fully seated.
