Hard to believe this audacious piece of tech turns 40 this year

For those who may not know, this unassuming data bank was the pinnacle of engineering back in its time. Casio wanted to show the world what it could do, so they released a calculator/data bank without a keypad. To use it you actually wrote the characters on the screen with your finger to perform calculations or enter data into the phone book. It is to my knowledge the only pre-smartwatch era wristwatch with a touch screen capable of reading your handwriting. Not bad for 1984 technology.
