Shooting and watches?

I was at the range yesterday and before i started shooting i realized i was wearing an automatic watch, so I took it off. This was a first for me because when i go shooting i wear a quartz watch.

I guess im curious to know if what i did was good or if i was overreacting. Can shooting with an automatic watch mess up it's movement? Should you never do it with an automatic watch?

I would love to hear your experiences for my own piece of mind.

Any large shock is not good for a movement but it depends on what you were shooting and the calibre. I've only shot shotguns but probably wouldn't wear a watch for that.

Thanks for the infotmation. At one point i was shooting a Benelli M4, was my first time and i was not ready for that kickback.

I'm from the UK so firearms are very limited. The only experience I have of those sorts of guns is through watching Kentucky Ballistics or Brandon Herrera.

I've shot handguns, rifles and shotguns my entire life wearing a watch with no issues.

Jackhammers and other extremely repetitive stuff could prolly cause some damage.

Most firearms no worries. Wear my autos and hand winders all the time.

I'm running handguns, rifle, and shotguns, every other week/three weeks for training purposes and personal use. Not had an issue. Especially since most of us wear our watch on the support hand. And when I say running, I mean couple hundred rounds per sesh, per platform.

If you happen to be manning the Ma Duece for extended range sesh's, maybe take it off? Otherwise you're good. 👌🏻🤘🏻🤙🏻
