Anyone out there own or otherwise have hands-on experience with Zenith's Elite models? More specifically their discontinued models with the small seconds (per the pic here courtesy of Fraser Hart)?
These models retail (in the UK at least) as new for £3-4k and seem on that basis to be a bit of a steal: it's a Zenith, in-house movement (not an El Primero, but not a weak movement either as far as I can tell), impressive thinness, nice finishing, quality strap, etc etc.
New Elite models are £5k and up so these older models just seem like an unusually good value prop given the competition in that £3-4k price range... Or am I missing something? Online reviews are extremely thin on the ground and in general the Elite movement coverage is really muted.
Anyone out there with experience or an opinion??

From what I understand, they are not as nicely finished as JLC, but - given the price difference - that can probably be ignored. I haven't heard of any specific issues with the Elite movements. Classy watch!
JLC Master Ultra Thin can be had for similar prices, I'd at least cross shop it. You can find a generation or two back at a bit smaller size which may or may not be better depending on your tastes. Both are beautiful, thin, classic dress pieces and I agree, criminally undervalued.
Here's my JLC...
The Elite movement looks amazing through an open case back. I’ve had no issues with timekeeping or reliability.

Handsome piece you have there - thanks and congratulations!

Thanks for this - remarkable similarities on the indices of the JLC with the older Zenith Elite models...
