Anyone with hands-on experience with modern Vulcain watches?

I'm really liking what I see of late from Vulcain. They are undoubtedly best known for the Cricket but they have just released a vintage style (and vintage sizes) chrono, reviewed by W&W here. Not long ago they did a vintage style diver that looks to give an Oris Divers Sixty Five-type vibe but at more vintage dimensions, reviewed by Hodinkee here.

Anyone own or otherwise have hands-on experience with modern Vulcan watches?

So... I posted this 9 hours ago on one of the most widely-read watch sites on the web and have had precisely zero examples of modern Vulcain owner/user's come forward. Do these watches actually exist or am I being paranoid?

I don’t have any Vulcains but I have a few Nivada Grenchens (another revived brand by Guillaume Laidet). They keep very good time. Fit and finish is great. The quality is there. I would wager the Vulcains would be just as great, if not better. That being said, I haven’t seen one of the new ones in person. But they do have a 30 day return policy if you wanted to check one out.

Also, I think they are a partner with the Windup Watch Fair. You could see if they’re coming to a city near you and check them out that way. Just a thought.

Thanks Josh! I'm in the UK so I'm wary of getting burned on import duty if I go direct to Vulcain (I bought a Serica some years ago and paid about 25% of the total cost again in tax to take consignment of the damn thing). Vulcain are sold by an online-only AD in the UK (Jura) but to date they only stock Cricket models, not the newer stuff, and they've been pretty unhelpful when I've contacted them about availability of other models. Good to hear the quality of Guillaume's other ventures bodes well for Vulcain - it's something, so thanks for your post. Love your profile pic btw: "CHARLIE DON'T SURF!" 😉

Hey, no problem! Sorry I couldn’t be of more help. I thought some info was better than none. I didn’t realize you were in the UK. Import duties suck! Also, sorry to hear that AD isn’t very helpful.

I will say this; I’ve been so happy with my NGs that I’ve also been eying Vulcain. Matter of fact, I bought the NGs without seeing them in person. Don’t regret it. I’m interested in the new Cricket and Skindiver. I just have a few more higher on my “terrible addiction list” at the moment.

I also have a Serica! I like it but it overlaps a few other field watches I own, so for that reason alone I’m thinking about cutting it loose. Which one did you get?

I’m still only in Saigon.

Saigon. Shit...

I got the Serica 5303-2 which is lovely but has crown stem issues I need to get fixed at some point. It's partly why I'd like to hear some reassuring things about Vulcain's QC before taking a punt... still, you've encouraged rather than discouraged me so thanks again!

In one of the biggest German watch forums (i'm also member there) they discuss their skindiver re-issue a lot. Most of the owner (only a few) are very impressed by the look and quality in real life. One user also compared the Vulcain skin diver with his Oris 65 and say the Vulcain is higher in terms of fit an finish. What I doesn't like about Vulcain is their ownership and transparency. They were sold several times and change their management that often... it's also not really sure what they did in Le Locle (only their office? are they assembled all the watches there? Where are the parts come from?)
