Watch obsessive who believes smaller and cleaner trumps bigger and flashier. Much first hand love for Tudor, Grand Seiko, Longines, Oris, Hamilton, etc. while pining from afar for Rolex, Patek, VC, etc. One day...
Always been fascinated by the confluence of mechanical ingenuity and aesthetic excellence.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
The first watch I can name was a Seiko Kinetic model 5M43-OC80 that my parents got me for my 16th birthday (mid-90s).
Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?
Not yet, but I like the idea of commemorating life events with watch purchases and/or inheriting something weird and wonderful. Watch this space, I guess...
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Do your research, save for the watch you really want, and make sure you buy a Hamilton Field Khaki Mechanical.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Longines, Tudor, Hamilton, Grand Seiko...
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
38mm Zenith Chronomaster in reverse panda configuration. An ideal marriage of form, function and design in a compact package that is not so eye-wateringly expensive that I might actually enjoy wearing it outside the house.
