I live very close to a great collection of pinball machines and every week or two I walk over there and pump a few quarters into the James Bond pinball game. I try and always wear a quartz watch. Today was the PRX.
I have had a mechanical watch magnetized once and I have a sneaking suspicion this is how it happened. Pinball.
Do you think the magnets in a pinball machine will affect a watch? Do you have a great pinball place you love that isn’t Free Gold Watch in San Francisco? Tell me about it.

i think you’d have to spend “marty Macfly” level times on that pinball machine but i’m not a scientist . Who knows . I think it’s a fair and legit excuse to wear your Quartz as you play though.👏👏👏 Slow clap for that . Challenge idea : match your watch to your machine ? 🫡
Idk? I herd about the effects of magnets on mechanical watches. But haven’t experienced any issues, so far. (Knock on wood)
I’d be more afraid of banging the watch against the pinball machine than getting it magnetized.
I need to check out that pinball place. Lived in SF Bay Area my entire life and never been there.

It’s a block behind Amoeba Records on Haight st. So it’s on Waller near Stanyan. 50 something tables plus a few other arcade machines. Great spot. No bar. Just games. I’ll meet you there if I got the time! Quarters on me.
Not sure if it’s still there but there used to be a pinball museum on Alameda. If you go be sure to check out Forbidden Island Tiki Bar as well.
I believe we were there a few months ago after some music festival friends went to a dispensary near Haight Street. Apparently going there from the dispensary is a thing.
I remember just automatically pushing up my sleeves and sliding my watch into my pocket rather than risk banging it up.
There was also a scruffy beanie dude there passing out alcohol wipes and warning people "Do you KNOW what gets on these buttons?" After I accepted one he asked me for a quarter. Now that's a great hustle!
You’ll be fine

I think you’re right but a year or so back I had an automatic watch get magnetized and I couldn’t think of how it got that way aside from extended pinball sessions.
Keep hitting those flippers!
