Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

Opening up my Great-Grandads military trench watch and pocket watch which were both handed down to me opened my eyes up to traditional watchmaking. Researching and learning about these watches inevitably led me down the rabbit hole. Discovered watch YouTube channels such as The Urban Gentry and Bark & Jack. I was buggered after then.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

A Bench (Fashion brand) watch from Argos when I was a kid…Maybe.

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Great Grandads pocket watch. Made by Lancashire Watch Co ltd in their factory in Prescott. Lancashire, England. Having opened its doors in 1889, the company failed in its ambition to compete with American and Swiss factories and closed its doors in 1911. Aside from the obvious sentimental value attached, it’s cool to have a watch which was made in the North West of England where I am from.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Be inspired, not influenced.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Bremont. Christopher Ward. Citizen. swatch. Girard Perregaux. Cartier.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

I have two. Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch and the Explorer 36. Two iconic watches. The Moonwatch story was the first I learned about when getting into watches, no surprise. I do love anything space related. I love the classic, virtually unchanged timeless design of these watches. The Explorer, is my idea of the perfect everyday watch.
