Enthusiasts seem to prefer the 124 over the older one, from what I have heard.
I have the 114270 and was offered a 124270 by my AD. Honestly, the newer design and especially the new bracelet was too dainty for me. The older bracelet with less taper gives the watch more heft, visual presence and feel on the wrist.
If I didn’t have the older model, maybe I would accept the look and feel of a smaller daintier watch. The older model, although the same size, feels more substantial on the wrist.
I’m still going to hold out for an older 39mm or 40mm.
The older model is lighter weight, less flashy and has a wider taper. I prefer it to the new one.
