ebay treasure 👑

Having recently dipped my toes in to the world of Kinetic watches with a 2004 Seiko Arctura SNL001, I have found myself keen to find out as much about the watch as possible. Fitted with sapphire and a milled clasp from factory I suspected that this was quite expensive in its day, and it still feels ‘quality on the wrist’. So after some late night ebaying, these old magazine Ad’s turned up and the purchase was almost instant 👇

Now, I’m not going to lie to you, £6 changed hands for this page out of an old GQ magazine (not a bad business model there eh?) but for the price of a pint I was pretty pleased to find this.

That’s it. Boring but true. Thought I’d share 👍

I've seen other videos with toothbrush chargers. One guy recommended to wrap up the watch in a towel and throw it in a dryer on no heat.

I’ve got a toothbrush charger on the way. It’s worth a try for £5. I think I’ll give the dryer a miss 😬

Seiko used to make a charger. If you’re in the mood for a hunt, you might be able to find a used one on the web. There is a “new old stock” one listed on eBay for $625.

There is also a seller on eBay selling what is basically a watch winder, but one that’s modified to move at the speed needed to fully charge a kinetic in a day for £118.

I have heard of people putting them on ceiling fans or in dryers (on air dry with no heat of course). There’s a YouTube video of a guy who used his electric toothbrush charger to charge it.

Of course, you could just wear the darn thing or just shake it up for a few minutes each day.

I find it surprisingly difficult to find details and dates of older Seiko’s. I suppose they have produced so many different models it would take a lifetime to put that sort of resource together 👍
