I just realized that this wasn’t the Explorer lol. It’s odd Rolex would use this layout on the OP line. It would very reasonably make one ask “Well why is this same watch in a different collection, under a different name, at a different price? What’s the difference between the two”.
Apparently this version didn't get a wide release - in 2008 it was added to the catalog and then quickly pulled. A somewhat difficult to find piece but they do exist! A lot of them were sold in Japan which is where I got this one.
