Congratulations! It's a Casio! 👶👩‍🍼

I've been needing something like this for a while and I recently came across this awesome Casio FX-115 which is super affordable but is considered to be very good.

Its features go far above my current skills (which are pretty damn basic) but it will give me room to learn and grow.

I've already learned a couple of tricks in YouTube videos.

There's a lot of practical things you can do with calculators - many of which don't require you to be a genius.

Image

Of course there are phone apps that can replace this. - But when I'm working my phone is being used for other things so I need a dedicated device.

The FX-115 is around $15 on Amazon which is awesome value from Casio as usual. (Please no one mention that Casio make G Shocks that cost as much as a Rolex 😅). Mine should arrive in a week or two because I'm not in the US.

Image

The cover can slide on from the front or back which will be a great way to mount the calculator where I need it.

I've already set up a little arm to hold it.

(Sorry just a quick photo I took while having dinner.)

There was a similar black version for two dollars less but I love the off-white color. It reminds me of astronaut suits. Someday I'd like a g shock this color but I can't afford watches at the moment.

Still I enjoy what I have.

Image

My health and life are getting much better so hopefully soon I can afford new stuff.

Image

By the way I think it's funny how great these stock photos are for a $15 calculator but Casio won't put in even half this effort for a watch that costs x100 what this costs. 😅 (I'm pretty sure I've seen $1500 Casios with only one stock photo).

Here's a better photo of my work space. I've never posted the stuff I make here because I've had some big delays due to stupid problems with my back and neck. But I'll show off some stuff soon.

Image

I'd love to see the stuff you love that maybe isn't exactly a watch. 😁

Did you make it say “hELLO” yet?

I’d love to share a pic of my favorite calculator, but it got dirty when my parents finally let me bring it to school in third grade, and I washed it in the water fountain, so…

Young people aren’t amazed as us oldsters are at the amount of computing power you can get for a few bucks.  My Texas Instruments scientific calculator cost $300 CAN back in the second half of the ‘70s (a lot of money then) and we considered it a marvel because it saved us from having to learn how to use a slide rule for engineering.

Wow yeah interesting how stuff comes down in price.

It's funny how the Chinese are starting to sell working smartwatches with color screens and Bluetooth for 2 USD including shipping.

I mean it will probably catch fire or something but still interesting that they try lol.

Hi there Kale.

I had an Fx82a when I was a boy. I think it helped me with my sin cos and tan, though these days, don’t ask me what any of that means! Funny how lots of high school maths has nothing to do with actual life…

I think I mostly used it to spell ‘Boobs’….

Here’s a pic of the 82a :

Lol nice.

It's funny how tech changes the way it looks. Back then it was black and silver. Today it's more smooth curves and more colors.
