Changing my perspective about the Max Bill

I've owned the Junghans Max Bill for some time but it never spent a lot of it on my wrist. There is nothing wrong with it and I'm not sorry that I bought it, it's just looks too formal and I don't have many occasions to wear it.

or so I thought.

It's a deceptively simple design that draw its appeal from being parred to almost nothing. There is no real bezel, the indices are more of a suggestion than real markers and only the red accents on the hands and date are saving it from total whiteout.

In my mind it was associated with wearing more formal or business like clothes than I usually do, and so it spent most of its time in the winder. But it doesn't have to, because once I started to treat it as a watch and not only as a wrist accessory I found that I wore it more often and enjoyed it a lot.

And so I find myself collecting cat's toys from all over the house before the Roomba swallow or choke on them while doing its vacuuming routine. The cat isn't particularly pleased and is not overly impressed by the Max Bill, but I'm much larger and stronger so he can stuff his opinion in his furry behind.

On second though, wearing a white shirt while crawling on my belly to grab foam balls stuck under the couch and fridge might not have been the smartest thing to do this morning, but at least the Max Bill got some workout and a taste of real life that doesn't involve business or social events.

Good looking watch, I think you can wear that with almost anything. Also, room as are nonsense, they make you do even more work than if you just swept the floor yourself.

But I don't want to sweep the floor myself, that's the whole point of having a Roomba. Beside, doing it myself would not save me from belly crawling after cat's toys.

You could just sweep up the toys and explain to the cats that until they get jobs, you can’t afford toys. It’s called tough love and cats adore it.

I don’t want to sweep either, but my roomba either…

  1. Chokes on something and refuses to work

  2. Gets stuck under a radiator and refuses to work

  3. Pushes the bathroom door shut trapping itself and refuses to work

Nah, my success percentage with the Roomba is much better, it help that cat proofing a house is also making it more Roomba friendly.

The cat mostly adore salmon, long naps away from the beach and planning to murder me in my sleep. He's the best alarm clock I ever had.

Good design is as little design as possible.

I love the Bauhaus style of the watch. I can understand the point about it being a bit dressy for casual wear. But I would wear a watch like this with a shirt and not necessarily a suit. It deserves time on your wrist. Image

Do you know when I realized you were making this whole thing up? When you said "cat proofing" as if that were anything but make-believe.

You could try experimenting with different straps to increase interest. I ended up swapping out the bracelet on my Max Bill to great satisfation.

I may try that soon to spruce it a bit and get it out of the black & white zone.

You are just being envious because I can do the Roomba.

Also, roomba sounds like a risqué dance from Latin America that makes the kid’s parents uncomfortable.

While I'm very fond of this saying, in some things, such as watches, this can be done to the extreme. Based on this quote, all you'd need for an ideal watch would be a white dial, a barrel case and stick hands and a simple marker at 12. It's been done. Boring!

May i add my thoughts on this subject OP? I wear my Max Bill as a daily watch for a week now and I can assure you that you don’t need to pair it with a white shirt ;)
