I blame the need for a simple watch at work and my youtube addiction. Put those together and things took off! :)
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
Disney Cinderella hand-wind when I was 5 years old. Loved it for many years and wore it in high school as a kitsch classic.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Take your time and don't spend a bundle in the beginning. Try to see watches in person and try them before investing big bucks. I have some bargain Chinese watches that are Cartier homages and they are fun to wear, perform well and cost very little. Most people I know can't tell the difference, but I still feel classy and don't worry about getting robbed. I have high-end expensive watches that don't fit me right, so I never wear them and I'm going to sell. There is an entire world of watch info out there. Feel free to explore everything from bargain/affordable options all the way up to the prestigious luxury brands. It's all fascinating.
Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?
Casio, TAG Heuer, Tissot, Pagani, Sternglas
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
The TAG HEUER AQUARACER Quartz WAY131B.BA0914 Ladies Diver. I just love the look of this thing. It has the sporty edge of a diver but is not overwhelming on my wrist and has just the right clean look (white ceramic bezel and partially white ceramic bracelet) to be feminine and sporty/strong at the same time. I'm OK with it being quartz movement because I like the leaner profile for this type of watch on myself.
