Sci Fi watch collection updated

Finally adding a new member to my sci fi watch collection, the Seiko Arnie SNJ025 🔥

Rarely see a diver watch that had relation to a sci fi movies. And a proper diver watch, not just the aesthetics. I still love my Ripley & Cooper very much, but the Arnie feels very good on the wrist to my surprise, that I think it‘s going to get a lot of wrist time.

Any recommendation of the next sci fi watch I should add to this collection?

Awesome.

Since you already have the OG Ripley why not get also the Casio duo setup from Aliens?

Or better yet, check what watches they wear in “The Abyss” from James Cameron, I’m sure there will be a diver somewhere there 😉

Good idea! Time to rewatch The Abyss I guess 😅

Thanks! I find it easier to follow the tutorial on Youtube than from reading the manual book. The features are actually kinda similiar to the G Shock GA series 👌

I recently got my wrist on an Arnie as well and it’s turned into my daily.  Put it on a black Horween leather nato strap. I love everything about it.

Looking good 👍 haven’t tried any other strap options since the rubber strap is really comfortable.

You'll have to explain the significance of the Seiko chrono and the Hamilton flieger. The only three sci-fi watches I could name off the top of my head are the Arnie Prospex you have there (Predator and Commando), the Hamilton Ventura (Men in Black) and the Casio calculator (Back to the Furure).

But what a cool theme for a collection. If you ever run out of sci-fi watches you could expand to any watch featured in a movie. I can't look at a Vario 1918 without thinking of Christopher Walken's deadpan delivery of; "five long years, he wore this watch up his ass..."

LOL for the Vario 1918 😅

the Seiko Chrono is a reissue of the Seiko Giugiaro design that also featured at the Aliens movie directed by James Cameron. The watch was worn by the protagonist Sgt Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), hence why that watch is now called “Ripley” by the Seiko enthusiasts. The exact replica of it released in the 80s, with carzy prices being asked of it. This one is actually a reissue released in 2013 if not mistaken, with a slight variation on the color way but still being true to the original design. With the quirky pusher design and unique bracelet, making this watch have a retro futuristic feel to it.

The Hamilton flieger is from the movie Interstellar directed by Christopher Nolan. Actually there are two watches that have significance in that movie. This one that worn by Cooper (Mathhew Mcconaughey) and the one handed to his daughter, a khaki field watch called Murph. I think Interstellar is the sci fi movie that uses watches as a significant part of the story. Don’t want to be a spoiler of the movie, but it makes these watches much more cool for me.

You’re absolutely right about the Casio, gotta have those next. I personally not a big fan of the Ventura design. And yes, now I’m expanding to watches in movies. Already got the Seiko SKX worn in the movie “All Is Lost”. Next gotta be the Seiko Willard.

Just found this Youtube video. It's a sampling of some fairly bonkers watches from around the world, among them are a few identified movie watches. Worth a look (caution: some of these watches may be distressing to persons of a nervous disposition)
