I've only tried it on bracelets, I think your watch would be hard to achieve consistent results because there are so many different surfaces. Good luck if you decide to take it on.
All my attempts at metal brushing by hand have looked terrible. I would see if you can find a jeweler or watchmaker with a polishing machine who knows what they're doing and see how much it would cost to do it. I suspect the tricky part will be protecting the parts of the G-Shock - I'm assuming the metal bezel can't be easily removed?

Grey scotchbrite in long strips might be a good way to get a fine grained surface...
