SPB143, GMTs are a fad and mostly useless to most people.
A timing bezel and less cluttered dial is always useful, but knowing the time at a glance 3-4 time zones away is marginal at best. Chances are, if you need to know the time somewhere else, you're already holding your phone or at a computer.

Thats a hard choice. Both are well made watches.
The decision comes down to Diver vs GMT. Leather vs Steel.
I would say:

Alpinist. There are plenty of diver watches like the SPB. GMT may only be useful once a year but it's still a distincive watch.
Alpinist for me, but I've already got 2 Willards and SPB147 . Really do rather fancy one of those Alpinists . 😍👍
I’d pick the 143 I’ve had two alpinists and while great watches the 147 I have is just a nicer watch all round for me.
I would go for the alpinist. In my opinion it is more legible, more versatile and more unique (and I prefer the date window)
Spb143 because bezel on the gmt is thin for me and ı dont like it with strap, on the other hand the diver is solid in style and function
The spb has awesome dimensions like it's just a really attraktiv watch.
I have to go with the SPB143. Both are great looking watches. Just personal preference.
