Hey guys!
This is my rare (very?) Timex from the early 2000s (recently acquired). Afaik this one has no identification besides being called the sr927w by the cell it uses and (afaik) using a miyota 0s10. The "problem" with it is that when i run the chrono, after a while the seconds, minutes and hour hands stop working. The chrono works and its dials work as well, but not the others. it starts running again after i "wind it" again into hour. What could that be? can this be solved by entirely swapping the current movement for a newer one?

I have never seen it before but I really like it!
We need it on a timegrapher first man.
If the hands are not touching eachother then yeah of course a new movement will solve any issue.
Does it flip the date on its own? So if you leave it wound up 24 hours does the date change?
And after the hands stop working do you hear the fork ticking?
yes! the date flips on its own, no issues on that. If im not leaving the chrono on for a while, the chrono and watch work just as good. the issue seems to come after X minutes with the chrono on. ive turned the chrono again and ill see if i can hear the fork ticking

Okayyy I thought it wasn’t working when the chrono was off.
Do you know the model number of the watch?

I tried searching for sr927w but couldn’t find it.

That’s the thing with this watch… there’s literally no information whatsoever. The only things I’ve found is using google images and some Japanese auctions with this model popped, but nothing else

That’s weird dude😅
Well since we know the movement let’s check that out.
Wish I would've found something this cool! Been looking for a Timex chrono too. This is a killer find. 💪
I have seen that often with chronographs that haven't been running for a while. Probably sat somewhere with an empty battery for a few years. Basically the oils inside have dried out creating grime and gunk so the gears gets stuck after a while. Replacing the movement would be the most sensible option.
You could try going into chronograph reset state( crown pulled out to second position and using the pushers to force the hands around) or you could physically give them a nudge to overcome the blockage. Two ways to do that, either by nudging the hands with tweezers when they stop or getting a demagnetizer since the strong electro magnet inside can turn all of them without you removing the movement from the case.
In essence just get a new movement otherwise the problem will likely show up again if you even manage to "fix" it in the first place.

i think i will be doing that, not worth the hassle to fix it, when i can buy the movement for 30 bucks!

SR927W is the battery type. It has nothing to do with the watch model or serial number.

yes i know, but these watches are known by the battery type they use, they have no model number anywhere
