Full Nerd

I just want to start off by saying, I have never watched any of the Marvel movies except the OG Tobey McGuire Spider Man movies. Here I am now, a 29 year old man, completely nerded out.

This all started because I saw all the marvel movies on Disney+. So we decided to watch the TM versions for a hint of nostalgia as a family. My almost two year old daughter fell in love with spider man so we watched the Tobey and Andrew Garfield versions.

We started to venture down the Tom Holland experience when I found myself bamboozled at the fact that Iron Man and the Avengers were in the opening scenes. After some googling I realized that I needed to watch like 17 movies BEFORE Spider Man Homecoming to understand…..

So I did.

Here I am, two months later (I’m a busy guy), finding myself coming up with ideas how to bring back the greatest marvel character of all time, Tony Stark (RIP). I bawled my eyes out at the end of Avengers Endgame.

“We’ll be okay, Tony. You can rest now.” Gutted me.

Anyway, I’ve always been a creative. My imagination ran rampant after this. So I came up with my own Marvel Hero. *Pictures are AI generated*

Meet Jameson Roy. Aka Hourglass.

Jameson Roy is a classmate of Morgan Stark. Jameson gets an internship at Stark Industries after a recommendation from Morgan to her mom Pepper. His extensive research of the ARC Reactor technology and quantum physics landed him the top spot. Like Tony, Jameson spends hours and hours in the lab afterwards and develops a watch modeled after his favorite Omega Speedmaster, that paired ARC Reactor technology, a miniature quantum tunnel and a temporal GPS. Jameson uses that technology with the biotech Tony developed for the Iron Man suit to become the newest time traveling super hero and the newest Avenger controlling space and time by using the pushers of the chronograph.

Uh dude, that is amazing. First thing first, Jameson is too jacked to be a nerd. That shirt sleeve is hanging on for dear life. Second, that device looks like a combination of StarkTech and Doctor Strange’s Eye of Agamotto, which held the Time Stone. Lastly, nerds rule.

Now that Jonathan Majors got fired as Kang, it would be an interesting turn and to bring things full circle to have RDJ be the big bad of everything. A different variant of Tony Stark who thinks he knows what’s best for everyone. Wait, that’s pretty on brand for him seeing he tried to protect the world with Ultron, then his stance on Civil War, and finally culminating in Infinity War/Endgame.

Nah, just have Dr. Strange somehow reverse engineer the time stone to bring Tony back so he can live happily ever after with Morgan and Pepper. Having a 2 year old daughter and watching Endgame tore me to bits. Tony deserves to be a dad man!

I was gonna say Tony stark lives here in WC, but I see you’ve already met him @SpecKTator

Oh and if you’re wondering

The only other character I would want to be is either Spider Man or Captain America. But that’s it. Since Tony had already been claimed. Hahahah if not, I’m taking Tony Stark every day and twice on Sundays

My girls are a little older and Scott Lang missing 5 years of Cassie growing up tore me up but my wife looked at me sideways as I was crying in the theater when Tony died. 😭

Dude, I cried when he saw Cassie too. Marvel did an amazing job of capturing all that emotion. Granted it took 10 years to get from Iron Man to Endgame, but for me I watched all of them within a 7 week timeframe so it hit me HARD. I’m glad my wife had no interest in this, because I was sobbing like a kid who hit his head on concrete when Pepper told Tony he can rest now.

Yep, it hit Marvel hard too. It’s lost focus since then and they just can’t get back to that high point.

They will never have another RDJ/Tony Stark type character that people love as much. At least I don’t think they will. That core group of Chris Evans, ScarJo, RDJ, Hemsworth and Ruffalo is unmatched. They won’t ever be able to recreate that. When ScarJo sacrificed herself that even got to me. The 10 year run those characters had cemented themselves into the hearts of Marvel fans. And for me I’ve been a fan 2 months 😂😂😂

I remember watching Iron Man back in 2008 while visiting my then girlfriend/now wife in Brisbane, Australia. It changed my life and brought on one my favorite characters to life and made it realistic. The MCU could have gone all sorts of sideways but Jon Favreau and Kevin Feige hired the perfect actor for the role. RDJ has the same real life character flaws as Tony Stark. Hard to imagine anyone else in that role.

If you’re interested, you should check out the art of Adi Granov and Ryan Meinerding. Pretty much put together the visual language for the MCU.

The nature of life is to end.

Tony's character arc from know-it-all, selfish prick to sacrificing himself to save all of Earth's humanity is perfect. Bringing him back as a continuation of that will ruin it. Bringing him back as a villain will ruin it.

Also, most of the reason people think the current phase of the MCU sucks is because it's being compared to Infinity War & Endgame. We had to build up to that. 17 movies worth of build up. There's no way a new phase was going to immediately match that. Let it be it's own thing. Let it build.

I agree 100%. RDJ is Tony Stark. Just like Finkle is Einhorn. RDJ plays that part flawlessly which I think adds to the emotion of his character arc and passing. He has easily become my favorite actor and iron man my favorite fictional character of all time. Peter Parker/Spiderman is a close second.

I’ll definitely have to check that out.

One final note, I see that you’re an engineer. If you can figure out a way to create a closed circuit AI like J.A.R.V.I.S. or F.R.I.D.A.Y that can run and operate my house/cars/life let me know. Siri doesn’t cut it. Frankly she isn’t as cool.

If I could do that, I wouldn’t be on the Crunch 🤣
