Bluetooth worth it?

Hey crunchers, is the microband 6 radio enough for time setting in the US? Im doing some traveling for work and it would be nice if I got a G-shock that would update automatically. Ive heard the radio signal doesnt alway work so im wondering if the bluetooth models are necessary, especailly if I travel to the east coast or go on vacation? Also how is the negative display?

My GW-6900 radio signal works consistently from home. But it only updates automatically in the middle of the night. You can make it update manually but it takes some time.

So is it reliable? For me yes. Would I get it so that it switches time zones when I cross state lines? No.

That being said, I have heard good things about the Bluetooth version….haven’t tried one yet. I assume it switches time when your cell phone switches….

I have both and radio isn’t always easy but once you suss out the best place to position your watch every evening it’ll update no problem and if you’re travelling you might not have the luxury to see what’s best from trial and error. I have Bluetooth and that works effortlessly and instantaneously.

Bluetooth is the way to go if you want to have the exact time NOW rather than wait for your watch to update via MB6. As for displays, I say go with a modern G-Shock with a MIP display.

The MIP display looks great, im strugling to find one in the classic square shape with solar power the DWH5600 is that i guess but with HR functions and a solar assisted battery that still needs to be plugged in. I would love if they dropped the HR part and gave me a mIP display that can run only on solar for $150 but im asking to much i guess

That's because the solar battery in the DWH5600 is sadly inadequate for powering all of the watch's functions without the occasional charge. A solar powered Bluetooth MIP will make their previous squares obsolete, so I'm not counting on that happening anytime soon (but I can dream!). Ditch your father's tired old "classic" squares and join the many who've moved on to Casio's modern squares such as the DWH5600, GBD200 and GBX100. This is the future!

My Casio Edifice ECB 30 has more dressy look but, tool feel. Has the atomic clock Bluetooth. I love it when I don't what to wear my Bluetooth G-Shock.
