My first GS. (I have a King Seiko from the late 60's). I've been GS curious for a few years.
My complaints were typical, too thicc, weird bracelets, power reserve never looked right to me....basicaly the normal complaints folks that are not deep into GS have.
So when I saw the Omiwatari I was like "oh hello" you look pretty ๐ โจ๏ธ ๐.
The proportions looked great, the dial was clean, the power reserve was on the back (which I love).
I ended up ordering one from Japan (way cheaper than buying in the US).
I hated the strap and clasp it came with so I popped it on a black perlon.
The watch fits like a glove. The shape reminds me a little of the Cartier Drive. (I've never owned one. Just seen pictures)
The blued seconds hand is cool and yes the dial is nice but what I love about this watch (other than its insanely good comfort) is the same thing I love about my King Seiko... the markers.
The markers are objects of beauty. I can get lost in them..watching how the light plays off each one.
It's a beautiful experience.

I am still searching for the perfect GS for me but this one has caught my eye multiple times. You make a great point about the markers on this and other Grand Seiko dials. I had a salesman explain that GSs donโt need lume in most cases because of the way the markers reflect even the tiniest bit of light.
