It's BIG. But is it clever?

At 48-49mm and 18mm thick this LE (1 of 500) Nubeo is no shrinking violet.

So much so that I nearly didn't bother trying it on at all as it was clearly too big.

However, after sizing it for my 7.5" wrist it doesn't 'wear' as big as it looked in the box and just about fits without looking completely stupid.......I think!

I'll wear it for now and see if it earns a place in the collection.

The double balances are quite cool!

Edit: Just checked the lume. This could be a keeper!

Yeah, I don't think it looks too big on your wrist. But out of curiosity: Does the 2nd balance actually do anything?

Yes, both spin.

Yes, both spin.

Makes sense, but I assume only one escape wheel is connected, meaning that only one is responsible for the operation of the movement, right?

I looked at images on the website. There does not appear to be springs on the balances.

No idea. Haven't checked, I'll let you know.

Both balances have springs, there are two escape wheels and two pallet forks. All visible through the crystal using my loupe.

Both escape wheels appear to be operated by the two pallet forks. Not sure how it all works but I believe two balances are supposed to cancel out each other's inconsistencies and give a more accurate timepiece?

I'm quite sure that both escapements have a pallet fork (and escapement wheel) each, otherwise the corresponding mainspring would simply unwind. Whether both contribute to the movement of the hands is another question. It would take some form of clutch as they would never be fully in sync. My gut feeling is that only one of the balances regulates the movement.

That’s been my experience with Nubeo as well. On paper they look ridiculously big. But on wrist - they look totally normal.

I’ve got 6.75” wrist and I’ve had three different models and it’s the same for all of them.

I'm sure you're right. I just like having two balances spinning! It's cool. And that lume!
