Avi-8 Dambuster Review

Avi-8 again !

As we know Avi-8, here we are with a new special watch dedicated to a special Aviation unit.

Hereit`s the unit, which 80 years ago was part of a special operation in the second world war.

But before we drift too much into the historical - let's have a look at the watch.

Let`s just make clear - the historical bridge to the design is appropriate and successful.

Fittingly, 5% of the proceeds will be donated to the Squadron Association, which in turn will use the money for a good cause.

Quick facts about the watch

Limited to 775 pieces !

MOVEMENT Japan Dual Time Chronograph

CASE SIZE (mm) 43.0

CASE THICKNESS (mm) 14.8

LUG TO LUG (mm) 51.0

With a Lug to Lug of 51mm, I feel the watch is at the upper end of the Limit of 52mm for wrists up to 17.5cm circumference, but still wearable.

Nevertheless, it is definitely clear here that the watch has a certain presence, but I also find this very fitting for pilot watches in general. Very well nestles here the design of the dial to the size in general because it is in no way boring and it offers you something, but by the color scheme, the watch is also not too loud overall. Also just beacuse of the size the watch is an eye catcher and present, but it is just not too present, because the color scheme on the dial is well chosen.

The workmanship is completely okay for the price range nad I can`t find something negative here.

Often, the hand stacking of watches up to 300€ is noticed negatively, because it is very high and you can see it.

Here you can not see it. Thus, this optical flaw that many watches in the price range have is not present. That is already nice.

The sub dials are aircraft cockpit-like attached and decorated by the small screws.

Beautiful here are the small details, as with the sub dials, which are slightly wavy, which is only really noticeable on closer inspection, but this creates a subtle distinction from the rest of the dial.

I have the black version of the watch here and find the color scheme - especially with the stitches on the strap very successful. You just have to like orange in any case.

Negatives about the watch.

It's hard to really find anything negative because you have to keep the price range in mind.

So anything negative I could name would be found on probably any other chronograph in this price range. That's why I don't want to pick out anything subjective here and leave it up to you.

But what would interest me - what do you like particularly well? and what perhaps not?

Good review. I listened too several reviews on this watch and most of them have been negative so I’ve stayed away from this watch. After you review I’ll maybe give it some consideration. Love to here back from you after 6 months of wearing it. Have a great day

Thanks for your reply 🙂

I def. have to check out other Reviews then and will surely do this.

I just can imagine what kind of negative aspects they`ve mentioned but in my opinion it`s not fair to mention things like : no automatic movement, no sapphire crystal, design of pushers, no super detailed details on the dial etc.

If this would have been a watch for 700€ I def. would have pointed out these aspects but for round about 250€ I think the components are fairly picked and put on and in the watch
