The Architect's Corner - My Italian Beauties

My first post - but will not be my last. Hopefully intend to bring a bit of class and sophistication to the the proceedings here. :)

Thought I would start by sharing these two with you.

I became aware of the Squale from a Crunch post. Any watch with ‘Italiano’ in script on the dial will catch my attention. Looking for it on Squale’s site was a dead-end. Finally tracked it down - it was a collab with a small Korean watch shop called Whatawatches - but that only added to its charm for me.

The Echo/Neutra piece was a more recent find. I was immediately attracted by the beautiful design - it just really spoke to me. Now it lacks some things that the ‘watch crowd’ will cry about - fixed bezel, bad lume and poor legibility at times. But those complaints are like saying Mackintosh’s Glasgow School of Art (remember you are in the Architect’s Corner) is not energy efficient or lacks elevators - that’s not the point - it is one of the most beautiful buildings ever designed. So I just enjoy this watch’s unique beauty and style. The little details: the red/white/red tipped seconds hand, the cool 1956 Olympic emblem at the 6, the three peaks at the 12 and on the crown, the bezel having a slight ‘tropic’ look and 24 hour markings very discreetly at the fives. Plus its thin and wears beautifully on the wrist. And I should mention the wood box it comes in is unbelievable at this (or any) price point.

So I hope you enjoyed this first ‘The Architect’s Corner’. Our motto is ‘Come for the watches - stay for the cultivation’ :)

We will strive to keep the classiness up and the dancing watermelons to a minimum (yeah - you know who you are - initials ‘Ichi’ &  ‘bunz’).

Thanks - and I tried to give a lot of good words on the E/N 🙂 But they are a class act and its reflected in the design and quality of the watch. If you like the design of the BigMoon - I am sure you will not be disappointed with it in the metal.

I am totally here for the low key shade you're throwing 😂

There is no arguing with your watch choices today. Both very beautiful.

Looking forward to more 'Corners' 👍

(I really, really, REALLY wanted to post a watermelon gif... How good am I for resisting! Let's see if Ichi shows as much restraint if he finds this 😏)

Thanks for the kind words! And I see you didn't waste any time posting after joining 🙂 I also see where I might have to add a cat in my pics to get more responses 😜

And what is your watch with the grey dial and the blue hands?

I’m lucky. I am a collector of mid priced watches, Christopher ward, Oris, etc. my wife, as a present bought me the echo/neutra 1956 as a thank you for being her driver for a couple of months. This watch is beautiful, it tells a story of the 1956 Italian w8nter Olympics. I love it

Hey John - I am right with you in the collecting niche. Love the mid-tier watches and I also have CW, Oris, Hamilton, etc... And my wife also gave me a watch in the past year - a very nice Farer. Now how did your wife stumble across the 1956 E/N? Or did you tell her that is what you wanted? And like you - I love this watch - it just might be my favorite (out of about the 40 I have).

Hi saw it on pininterest website and saved it to favorites. Lizzy (wife) sneaked a look saw it, and googled it on her sisters iPad, got her to order it so I would t have a clue!

The trouble is,even at 78 yrs old, there’s always another watch……. Or more. John
