From PRX to Cartier Santos Galbee 187901

Hello everyone,

two days ago I walked through the city with my wife. We went into an AD of multiple brands with the intention to try on a Tissot PRX 35mm gold for her.

As we arrived I spotted three Cartiers, namely the Santos Galbee you see in the pictures; a Must de Cartier Tank with a red dial and also a Galbee in steel. The dealer also had some amazing watches. A full yellow gold Royal Oak from `78, a steel Royal Oak from `74, a white gold Day Date from `88, a VC Overseas and an Overseas Chrono - both in yellow gold and also Vintage. Very nice to look at.

To make it short: they had the PRX 35 in steel, but not with the gold PVD plating. We were about to leave when I asked for the Santos in the window. He got it out and handed it out to us. They asked for 3.790€ with box, papers and even the original receipt from 1992. She looked at it and was amazed and in love. We left the store with the words "we`ll think about it". She is the type of person who would never spend that much on a watch. But I knew how much she liked Cartier and their watches.

So one day later I went in again - she thought I was drinking a coffee with a friend. I looked at it again and pulled the trigger for 3.700€ with a little discount. We chatted watches and everything for 90mins straight.

Today she asked me whether we could call the guy from the store because she really likes the watch and would consider buying it. The first time for her. He told her, as I told him to tell her, the watch was sold and he was sorry.

She does not know that she will get it as a present in a few weeks. She was very upset and Im kind of happy I bought it. But man it's hard to lie to keep the present up.

Just a quick story of a nice evening, a nice purchase experience and how quick you can go from 400€ to 4.000€ 😂

Oh, don't torment her! What if she spots another Cartier and buys it immediately so as not to miss out? Then you'd have 2!!!

I don't think I'm able to wait that long anyway. But a few days is okay. When I tell her "I have present for you" she will probably know what it is. But in a week she might not think about it that much. Well, I hope so 😁

You're the second one recommending me not to wait for too long. The more I think about it, the more I think I should speed things up a little! Probably this weekend, I will definitely think about it.

Could be worse things than having 2 Cartiers 🤣

Sorry did not mean to make you second guess yourself! I just know that if it was me I would not wait as I am terrible at keeping secrets!!

I am sure she will be over the moon with it when you decide the time is tight to give it to her.

Sounds like she might be getting into your hobby as well, going to be expensive, but maybe a challenge to get unisex pieces you can swap and share

I bought myself a watch as a present for a special event. Two weeks later, I’m still waiting to wear it. Soon. Very soon. It’s much easier for your wife to wait because she doesn’t know you have it!
