New Strap!

Well this post won’t be as long or so dramatic and full of story as my previous one.

I just wanted to show my new straps that I ordered from Straptelier.

Great custom strap… with my initials engraved in the back!

I think it fits the watch really well and the quality seems quite good! I just need to make the leather softer over the time… but that won’t be a problem.

I truly love leather straps because they show their aging and their patina is something that evolves like us. It’s not something constant, but it changes with time and with the elements that surrounds us.

So it’s, for me, almost a visual representation of the connection that we have with the watch and the demonstration of love, appreciation and time we spend with our piece(s).

Unfortunately I was scared that for some reason the quick-release option would be too easy to “disconnect” and could eventually fall by accident so I ordered a “normal” one. But after seeing the effort to put it in I think I might have made a mistake ah ah.

Anyway I would love to see your opinion on the looks and as always it’s great to have this community to talk to!

As previously , I don’t know how many will read this but thank you so much for your time!

Good weekend everyone, cheers ;)

Looks great and I do understand the need for quality. I always dump most straps on the watch and replace them. Got rid of the strap on my Orient and replaced it with something more supple, better leather.

That is an incredible collection!

Can you tell me where you bought them and, based on your experience , what is the average lifespan of the leather straps?

Mine is Horween Dublin and also hand made.

Thanks for the comment ;))

I have bought from

  1. Barton

  2. Strap Code

  3. Ritchie

  4. BluShark

  5. Strapatelier

  6. Benchmark

  7. Detomaso (straps only and they are only 22mm. Great leather for the price. I only buy when they're 40-50% off.)

  8. Leatherbound my nephew owns this company. He does custom leather work. He uses the finest quality leather and skins. Leatherbound.ink

All of the leather straps I own have been used for years and are in great shape. Taking a leather strap off should be done in a way is not to yank or bend it back when taking them off. They last longer. Watch for sales with all the above except Leatherbound. You can get great deals at times. All the straps are great quality The strap roll came from Vario.

Cheers!

Well thanks for the advice!

But I was a bit confused on how to remove them… is there any particular technique?

And by the way thank you for the list of strap brands!

I won’t buy another one in the near future but I am definitely going to check them out once I feel the need to, including your nephews brand ;)
