Best watch that can be had for $12K?

Of course the answer is “it depends.” But I want to hear people’s opinions - my answer would be the H. Moser Pioneer Centre Seconds.

Absolutely without a doubt if you ask me. My favorite watch from my favorite watchmaker.

Personally, if we're talking MSRP or reasonable dealer discounts, then it's probably a JLC Master control calendar. Heritage, looks, complication and wears like a dream.

Oh man, there are so many options at 12K . Go with H Moser because you love it

I considered the smaller 40mm pioneer, but I'm so tempted for one of their more complicated pieces... The perpetual calendar with enamel or normal dial, maybe the streamliner chronograph (but a tad fat). I really want a Moser badly.. just want the right one.

You’re reading my mind. My watch collecting go forward plan really gets complicated every time Moser does something and it gets added to my list.

Right now I have the 43mm pioneer in the midnight blue and on the bracelet - was pretty happy with that one as it’s a rare spec.

But right now I can’t get out of my head the streamliner perpetual calendar you mentioned which is an incredible piece - and also the 40mm Arctic blue pioneer. I wish they had mixed up the case a little to make it a little more sporty than the original pioneer, but the smaller size on a rubber bracelet looks unreal, especially for summer.

The streamliner ultimately I would go for an Odysseus before though.

I tried this on, which blew my mind..it's new. It's like the concept dials without the indices, but grand feu enamel on a hammered dial to give it texture, and a perpetual calendar, which I like more than their older perpetual 1. It's pricey af..

Here's the new pioneer, but the tourbillon. Personally, I want to see more of the dial and would go for the entry one instead. I like your midnight blue over this artic blue.

Odysseus in steel for sure, but not WG. Was offered WG, but turned it down. I was offered steel years ago but stupidly I passed bc I just bought my Lange 1 Time Zone. 🥴 I wasn't ready and didn't research it enough at that point.

So many options for a sporty watch on my list. Streamliner standard over chrono bc of how fat it is, but I do love that agenhor movement. Czapek Antarctique.. the skeletonized one is good looking in photos if I really wanna go big. I'm waiting for my turn on the overseas retrograde date. Urwerk Spock is the only Urwerk I like. This is so cool. The grey colorway, the design, the splitting and rotating satellite hour markets.

Hoooooly shit those are some attractive watches. Agree on tourbillon, dial is the main attraction for the pioneer. Although the bracelet is actually also very very nice!

I can’t decide how I feel about these lopsided reserve indicators moser has on their perpetuals..

Damn that Arctic looks more like funky to me.. the video I saw had it looking a lot lighter, like an icy blue. These dials change color a lot in the light but good to know. I like the midnight more than the Arctic as well as pictured above, also like funky more than both sometimes, but never seen it in person.

Where’d you go to check out those mosers?

Agree on Odysseus - I actually would be down for a WG but it doesn’t come on a bracelet so kind of a deal breaker. Kind of wish the bracelet wasn’t integrated on the Ody, not a huge fan of that concept, but it’s clearly on trend still. Oh man - that’s tough on the Ody SS but sounds like you’ll get the chance to own one if you want. How’d you go about that?

The Odysseus is the main watch right now that I really want to build to - was thinking I’d go for a saxonia from one of the boutiques and then make my interest in the Odysseus known.. but don’t have any data points on how successful that approach would be. Does it have to be more spend like a sax moonphase? Would be grateful to hear how your experience was, though sounds like maybe times have changed since you were offered it.

All of those sports models are can’t go wrong material, even the urwerk which is prob not the first place I’d put $100K but it is undeniably damn cool.

Yeah, the dials change color dramatically in the light. The artic blue is definitely lighter though than the funky. I saw this at the HK Moser boutique.

For Odysseus SS, they're not taking any more orders. The wait list is way too long they said. If they open it, I'll jump on it for sure this time. Though that said, they're announcing two new models in two weeks time, so let's see what comes out!

I bought a Lange 1 time zone and was offered a spot on SS and this was two years ago. last month, was offered WG version wait list. I asked for SS, but was told it's closed for now. I just got a datograph and even then they said no.

Saxonia moon phase, saxonia annual calendar will all be discontinued. Maybe other saxonia models. Some like copper thin blue still available, but decently long wait list.

ALS boutiques are pretty chill. Non of this Rolex like approach unless it's for the Odysseus. Just go and chat and ask about it.

True, Urwerk is lowly prioritized. In reality, would I pull the trigger? Probably not until I get the Moser or antarctique or overseas.
