Thank you. #ikepod was around during the 90’s and early 2000’s but went to sleep and was brought back around 2018. It was a company I discovered as a design undergraduate. Glad to have a piece. The POD branding is actually what they were called before becoming Ikepod. This one is a nod to that.

Yep, Mark Newson. He was a consultant designer on the Apple Watch which aligns with when Ikepod disappeared. I think he was assisting up until the series 4 and then left along with Apple’s main designer to start a new business. In early Apple announcements, the designers can be seen wearing Ikepods. They were clearly fans so no surprise they reached out to him to consult.
