Fashion watches

Is there away we can see or make a list of "fashion watches" from brands that would be recognised and not recognised in watch community?  Example is how frequent I see Fossil vs Tommy Hilfiger.  What "fashion watch" brand would you consider vs won't.

Example is I like Breil watches and yes you could say that is a fashion brand however the specs are there with some dedicated watch companies.

Thoughts?

My advise is to simply ignore what other people think and simply get what you like. I actually think Fossil make some nice watches and I don’t quite understand the dislike.

·

Same here. There's been quite a few Fossil that I like with automatic movements and reasonable price.  I would never get a Tommy or Calvin Klein watch cause first thing comes to my mind when I hear or see those names is clothes.  But even Breil makes some really nice watches and stylish too.

Got my sister the pride 2022 Fossil watch and she loves it.

I agree that you should buy what you are attracted to. Personally, I would never consider a fashion brand watch and, controversially I know, I include Cartier in that.

It's still depend on the definitiom of a "Fashion Watch".

Some people even consider the watches Cartier, Mont Blanc, Bulgari or even Tag Heuer as "fashion".

So....first rule. Wear what you like.

Even if I don't like the watches of others. But I do respect OWN HONEST OPINIONS AND ATTITUDES.

I don't care about any of the watches, if someone has no own opinion.

Some people only buy Rolex AND G-Shock only because they think that they words have more vallue now.

Or their collection is only a summary of watch brands/models who get widly acceptance only to avoid critics and hope to get recognition.

Someone who wear watches for fashion reasons can wear what they want.

In case of watch enthusiasm, it us about ENTHUSIASM. Honestly I'm not interested in others watches. I'm interested of the storry what's beiknd of others watches.

Doesn't care if it's luxury, fashion or a copy cat from the bazaar.

I saw nice youtibe videos from people of countries where most can't efford any watch bran. So they show their cooy watches. But with a lot if passion and enthusiasm. And that is all about.

 I respect them more than...:

So feel free to share your thoughts about your watches.

But back to the Fashion Watches:

I personally avoid those brands known for cloths, handbags or parfums without any serious connection or passion to watches.

These Armanis, Hilfigers, Boss Watches etc. doesn't belong to these brands. They only sold the licence to use their names and logos.

They cost mostly between 200 and 500 euro which a "none watch enthusiast" considers as a lot of money for a watch.

In fact their production costs and qualities are mostly very low. Or let's say, lower than the price would let you expect. Back in the days they used chinese quartz movements. I don't know if they changed today.

Very low quality. Even outside looks nice and shiny.

I had already once, get as a gift.

It resists 2 years, the movement died and went to trash. Actually I was quite lucky.

My wife get one as a gift aswell. It resists 6 Months or less. Movement died..it went to trash.

There is one exception: CK.

Few years before it belonged to the swatch group and had access to their ETA movements. The owner changed. But as I know they still uses ETA Quartz.

So if you have to buy, you can consider CK.

Even people think they saved money by purchasing a fashion watch they actually payed to much related to their quality.

I'm working currently on an article about the vallue of luxury vs cheap chinese watches. I hope I can finish it till next week.

Even for low budgets there are a lot great alternatives.

Many established watch brands do even offer affordable Quartz alternatives.

So I usually consider them

But that's my opinion.

Buy snd wear what makes YOU happy.

I would ask, “what is a watch trying to accomplish?”  Is its soul purpose for being the design aesthetic, or is there some other purpose to the watch?  Mostly, fashion watches don’t have any purpose for being other than making a buck. Some luxury watches fall into this category as well. I pretty much avoid such watches as they don’t speak to me.

The Chanel J12 is legit watch from a fashion brand.  It’s been an iconic part of the brand for decades.

In its current iteration, it is an all ceramic case and bracelet with a unique and rather ingenious butterfly clasp design.  It’s 200m water resistant with a sapphire display back. It is COSC certified with a Kenissi movement that has one more jewel than Tudor (for the date function).  Chanel owns a chunk of Kenissi.

Finally, it is a GPHG winner.  This is a very serious watch despite it being clearly a ladies model.  For any guy who wants to get their wife a watch that she will appreciate but also has the horological credibility behind it, look no further than the J12.
