Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

I've always been into watches. For years as an adult, I exclusively bought Citizen eco-drives (I liked the idea of the solar movement) but I branched out to autos a few years ago.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

I distinctly remember having the casio calculator, but I don't recall if that was my first watch as a kid. I've always been into watches.

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Pick and wear what you like. It doesn't matter what anyone else has to say. And try to be selective and wait for sales!!!!! This hobby can spiral out of control quickly, haha.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

I live in the more affordable range, so I'm always interested to see what Tissot is doing. Still love Citizen, and I've picked up a number of Seikos along the way (among other brands). It's also smart to check out what micro-brands are doing, since they often offer high value-for-money pieces. I also have a number of watches from AliExpress that are really high-quality. I've bought a few "homage" watches, but no longer have a desire to live on that space. The watches I currently wear from AliExpress are either original or semi-orignial designs from brands like San Martin and Baltany.

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

The Omega Speedmaster Reduced (sapphire crystal). I love chronographs, and the Speedmaster is truly iconic. The "Reduced" is the perfect-sized Speedy for me. Based on my job, I can't justify wearing anything that highly-priced on my wrist on a daily-basis, and I don't want to spend thousands on a watch I won't wear frequently enough. One day....
