Any Sinn144 owners here?

I've been looking to purchase my first mechanical chronograph and while the broad arrow speedmaster (3594.50) is currently top of the list, the more accessible 144 (or even 144 gmt) has also caught my eye with its more tool-like aesthetic. The photos I've seen suggest it's a pretty big piece, but does it wear big? Can it be dressed up as well, or is it firmly on the sporty side in person?

Thanks in advance!

Hello from Frankfurt.

Sinn headquarter is just 3km away  - so there is a good reason to believe I am biased.

A couple of month I had the same question - broad arrow speedmaster is definitely a big piece and it was just too large at my wrist. Yes, specifications are similar. BUT the bezel with the tachymetre is large because it does not flatten to the edge (hope you understand what I mean).

144 St - bracelet just different from standard ones, gives the kind of 70ies feeling with old fashioned vintage look. The black dial with the one red hand - very, very cool. Markers are all white, Broad arrow you have to likne the brown fluoresence.

If you like black watches - go for the Jubilee 2 (limited to 600, but affordable).

And don t forget - broad arrow manual - 144 - automatic.

Dress code: Both fit to business or sporty look.

If that helps, I could send you fotos from both watches on my wrist.

If you want classy and sporty all in one package for a reasonable price speedmaster is the only way to go. Not to mention Omega's brand recognition and high resale value. Omega Speedmaster is an iconic watch you can be proud of every time you look at your wrist.

I agree on all points except perhaps "reasonable price". Inflation on Speedmasters seems quite real and probably not sustainable at this level in the long run (but im no expert). A "very good" used broad arrow seems to cost about 2x if not a bit more than a similar condition 144. The question to ask myself is then, what price pride of ownership? No doubt you're right on the Omega tugging harder on the heartstrings. But then I find myself staring at my casio sometimes too haha. Such is the weirdness of this hobby I suppose.

Cool! I tried one that sandwich dial '57 at an AD a few months back. It was gorgeous and the fit excellent, but oof that price a bit out of range for now!

And a great choice at that!

Turns out the dealer in town has one of these! I tried it on and found my heart still set on a more traditional silver case and bracelet (which they don't have in stock). I also tried on a 356 and was quite delighted by it though...

I own one GMT TI since more than 20yrs. Still proud of it!

I have several chronographs, and my Sinn 144 is one of my favorites. The high contrast between the hands and the dial make it super legible, which can be a problem for a lot of chrongraphs, especially those with contrasting subdials. It definitely has a tool watch vibe, so I don't think it's as suitable to dress up as many others. The design also makes it difficult to pair with anything other than the bracelet. When looking at the side profile of the watch, it looks really thick, but doesn't wear that way on the wrist.
