I heard a rumor that FM uses altered ETA movement? Is that true? I can’t find much literature on their movements for their earlier (pre-2000) chronograph.

I tried on the Armin Strom Pure Resonance yesterday at Topper Jewelers in Burlingame, CA here in the Bay Area. This is the first resonance watch where the gears are on the dial side and is ”affordable compared to the FP Journe counterpart.
