It's a keeper! Erebus Origin

So..... Been an interesting few days for me and the Origin. Here's proof that sometimes don't judge a book by it's cover straight off. Originally on unboxing my Bluesy I was massively underwhelmed. I was so looking forward to this one arriving, but when I had sized it and put it on wrist something didn't feel right for me. This was in my previous post. I then decided that I would try to break even letting it go, but quickly realised that even with this Microbrand, breaking even is going to be impossible, so...... Figured that as I wanted to like this one so much I would give her a chance. So glad I did. I had come off the back of wearing 22mm lug watches, also Christopher Wards, plus I was directly comparing the Origin to my Revelot Hexmariner 42. This was where I feel I went wrong. The Origin is a circa £330 watch after tax. I was comparing it to things that were more expensive. Then take into account the tooly brushed finish, where most of my pieces have elements of polishing, this really gives it a different feel. In conclusion she has won me over, so everyone deserves a second chance! 😂 As I have already said, well done to the Erebus team. Great Lume, On the fly, screw pins, great bezel action, great bracelet finish and fantastic legibility are all things which actually make this watch great value for money. Looking forward to seeing what comes next! 🫶💙

Yeah like it, kind of like a budget blue Pelagos. 10% of the cost and you get maybe 60% of the watch - sounds like a deal!

I always think they look solid and like they could take a beating without worrying about breaking.

I want to like it, but something about it just leaves me a bit ho hum.

Maybe if I had it on wrist but atm...nahhhh

I have the same watch, same colour. I think it’s hard to ignore the price when you’re making an assessment. We are so used to chasing after luxury items that I honestly think it’s almost impossible to be objective when you come across a great item at such a low price. No big brand name, no high price means it must be Ho Hum. It’s a great watch. It’s not an Omega at 20 times the price, or a Rolex at 30 times the price. In terms of value, it’s a really good reason to question why those watches are so expensive. I’m delighted with mine, but I know I’m still chasing the Omega, and I’m not particularly proud of that. :)

I would love an Omega 300 75th Anniversary, but cannot justify dropping 6k on something like a watch. I like picking little gems like this up. I have the Golby Aquareef on order, which like this looks to be a cracking piece.

I am into my Christopher Ward watches and have decided that at 1k for a pretty good Swiss watch is now the limit I am willing to spend. My C60 Solaris and C65 Chronograph are both within a second of my phone after weeks since my last adjustment, so don't feel you can get much better than that!

Currently debating picking one up, what do you think?

I think they played it super safe with their first offering because if they screwed it up, they were done. I think they did it very well. I'm very happy with my choice. I'm looking forward to see what they are doing next.

I obviously like the options without the black around the hands and indices as for me it makes the dial look weird in proportion. Blue is very nice, also like the Red. If you don't mind the black around the indices then the Orange is a great colour!

Thanks, I’ll definitely think it over some more. The blue is appealing because of the pelagos aesthetic it exudes. However, the price point is definitely putting me off at £280 before tax and shipping. I might hold out for on the chance Erebus has a sale or releases a discount code.

There are 2 on eBay if you are in the UK.

One at £330 sent an offer for £300. Was tempted to go for £250....

Also a black on auction
