Christmas came early- Tudor Pelagos FXD

I've long been a huge fan of the earlier Tudor Marine Nationale subs, so when this was announced in November I knew I wanted to get my hands on one. G...

Thanks! The FXD is well worth the wait! I have it paired with the Pelagos 39 on a steel bracelet. Really don't need anything else these days- it's the perfect 2 watch combo!

I've owned both the BB Blue 41mm ETA "Smiley" and the BB 58 Blue. The 41mm ETA on a steel bracelet was just too heavy and slab sided for me. But the BB 58 Blue was the most comfortable, most well balanced watch I've ever owned on a steel bracelet. Almost wish I never would have sold the BB 58. Fortunately I was able to buy the only watch that made me forget all about BB58 Blue... a Pelagos FXD 21.

Great video! And some very valid points. Personally, my watch collecting journey has taken me through several Black Bays- the original ETA 41mm Black Bay, the BB ETA 41mm Blue, and then the BB58 Blue. Sold them all for one reason or another. And I still have a few Rolexes in the collection- 1680, GMT 16750, a 5 digit no date sub, and a Tudor blue MN 79 Snowflake.
But ultimately, the only watch I wear these days is my Pelagos FXD 21. Is it perfect? No. But for legibility, comfort, history, and sheer ruggedness, it's as close to perfect as I'll ever find in a dive watch. After 3 months of continual wear it still gives me joy just to see it on my wrist.

Good question. I've had it on a Crown & Buckle perlon, and then a C&B Nato.
But lately I've been wearing the FXD on a canvas strap by SteveO.

And I have a few more Natos on the way. The watch is a strap monster! ;-)

Congrats! It's an awesome watch. Been wearing mine non-stop since I bought it. Let's see some more photos!

If your main concern is the size, then I think the BB58 would a better option. However, if you're looking for a rugged purpose-driven tool watch, with a distinctive milsub connection, then the FDX is the best choice.

One other consideration- I found that the comfort of a watch is not totally a matter of measured length and width dimensions. I've found that the the weight and the height are also important factors. For example, I found the Black Bay 41mm on the bracelet to be way too heavy and thick for pro-longed wear on my wrist. One of the reasons I sold it. However, because the FDX is a lighter titanium and thinner, it wears very comfortable on my wrist.
Ultimately, you can't go wrong with either choice.

Yes. That's exactly what I did. I sold my BB 58 Blue in anticipation of Tudor's new MN release. And I got the call from my AD just a few days ago. I haven't taken the FXD off my wrist since. Absolutely love it! Image
