Zenith at Phillips

Zenith did a show, so I checked it out yesterday. There were lots of watches on dismay, of course, historical and current. And there was a watchmaking workshop where you could get up close and personal with a working El Primero movement. Then they opened the displays and let us try stuff on. I don't know much about Zenith, so it was nice to get to check out some watches. What are folks thoughts about Zenith? I don’t think I see a lot about them on these boards.

Zenith chronographs are top notch.  Should be near the top of your list if you're looking for a luxury chrono.  You're lucky to get to see the show.  Seems they only had it mid-week during business hours right when everyone is at work.

I am one of the few Zenith fan boys here. Super jealous that you got to experience the event.👍

If I were ever to buy a chronograph, without any doubt whatsoever, it would be the Chronomaster Sport.

However, the primary thing for which everyone heaps endless praise on Zenith is also precisely the thing that prevents me from actually ever pulling the trigger on one:  the incredible engineering that went into the movement.

I liken it to buying a sports car...

  • You can get a great sports car with a 2-liter, 4-cylinder turbo engine.  It's a workhorse engine.  Plentiful and cheap parts, you can take it to your local mechanic to fix if anything goes wrong...  hell, maybe your buddy who's a grease monkey will do you a solid and fix it for you
  • Or, you can get this...

  • Woe be to the owner should anything at all ever go wrong with that engine

I have the chronomaster sport lined up as my next purchase.... do you all think it is worth the step up in price versus some other / older zenith watches?
