WatchTime New York, or the $800k Gruebel Forsey

There it is, on my wrist, for a hot second.

I've already posted my pics from Windup. I'm surprised I haven't seen any posts about the other big watch show in town this weekend. I went on Saturday, and with a free ticket thanks to @rexwatches, I went again today. It was only 18 blocks away from Windup, a straight shot, 10 minutes by bike, so I spent two days pedaling from one to the other. It a totally different vibe, Windup is probably more fun, certainly with more approachable watches, but there's something to be said for sees and trying on watches with price tags bigger than my 401(k).

Here's a somewhat more reasonable Gruebel at a mere $450k. You can watch the tourbillon do its thing through the sapphire in the side.

I was very keen to try on the Piaget Altiplano, which at 2mm thick was for a hot second the thinnest mechanical watch in the world, until they got surpassed by Bulgari and Richard Mille.

Moser's joke watches:

The famous/infamous Swiss Alps Watch.

The first Vantablack watch. Yes, has a movement ticking away. No, it has no hands.

Image

The Swiss cheese watch.

Image

There are hands in there somewhere.

Image

I have no idea.

Image

And the Mosers I would actually buy.

This watch is utterly bonkers. It's gold. I think they said it weighs 400 grams.

Image

But Armin Strom makes some lovely watches.

HYT is utterly bonkers. They use fluid pumped through bellows rather than hands.

Chronoswiss gets hardly any attention from watch geeks, but their watches are actually quite cool. The guy even took me outside to show me the watches in natural light.

RGM I could actually aspire to own someday.

The Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein I actually want, and could buy. I've been keen on them since they came out with the first version. But the time isn't right.

And Frederique Constant, and the perpetual calendar tourbillon I could, maybe, in the realm of possibility, someday think about affording.

And I got a photo op with Archie Luxury. I'm not a fan. And he had paparazzi. But as I was leaving, he was standing there by the door, so what the hell.

And due to a ticketing debacle on Saturday I had time to kill, so I did some window shopping at Macy's.

Cool pictures of the unobtanium…what did you think of the Hamilton, Seiko, and Tissot?

Some of pieces are just pure art! How do you read time of them? Or do you even bother

·

Wow. What a fever dream of a post ❤️‍🔥

·

I agree on Cronoswiss. Overlooked by many. The Delphis was fantastic

·

Thanka for sharing!

Interesting that moser had the discontinued green dragon streamliner! Love the silly watches that they make. That blue one with the words is the tutorial watch that teaches you how to read their unique perpetual calendars.

That grubel forsey has ridiculously polished bridges, geeze.

Finally, love that Louis Erard x Alain Silberstein. I'm hoping I get it! Fingers crossed.

Some of them fantastic, and some cant tell the time !

Here's some more random goodness I didn't post yesterday.
