Chopard Alpine Eagle 41mm - rattling noise

Recently added the alpine eagle to my collection when visiting Japan. It was a "used" item but in mint condition with warranty dated as 2023 November.

I am absolutely in love with the watch but recently started noticing a rattling noise with the movement - almost like the rotor is loose or something. The sound is not normal when comparing to my other watches, such as Omega, Breitling, IWC, Sinn, etc. Given the watch is almost brand new, I am not so sure if I should send it in for a service... Looking for advice and see if any of you have experienced this before.

Thank you all in advance and happy holiday!!!

It should be still covered under warranty. I say send it for service.

@ChronoGuy has Alpine Eagle(s), perhaps he can answer this better.

The Alpine Eagle uses Chopard's in-house 01.01-C automatic movement which I believe has a uni-directional rotor.

The sound of the rotor as it winds the movement on your wrist can be a bit noisy and metallic - this is not uncommon with uni-directional rotors.

You may be hearing the noise of the rotor as it spins around. The easy way to check is to turn the watch over and look at the rotor as it moves and see if that is the sound you are hearing. If so, not an issue...that just the way the movement sounds.

If you are hearing something else, then I would find your nearest Chopard boutique or AD and ask them to look into for you.

I have the same Alpine Eagle as you in both Lucent Steel and 18k Yellow Gold - both in 41mm. If yours is a smaller watch, then it will have a different in-house movement in it.

Thank you for the detailed information! This one is a 41mm and has the same movement as yours. It sounds more than rotor winding, almost like something is loose. I will send the watch in to make sure.

Stunner.

Hard to advise while not being able to hear the noise. Are any time keeping functions not working properly?

This is just me personally, but I’d probably wear it a little bit and see how it gets along and if able go to a dealer and compare to some new ones, then determine what to do from there. I’d spend a little time and research before I sent it off, I believe you have some time before the warranty expires so maybe hang tight for a few and monitor.

Use that warranty. Don’t want a screw rattling around and getting stuck in the hairspring
