I keep meaning to look into why its 24 hours and 60 minutes each when nearly every thing is base 10. Seems like it should be 10 hours (or 20) and 100 minutes with 100 seconds.

The same reason there are 16 ounces in a pound; imperial numbers are easily divided down to whole numbers.

During the French Revolution, France changed to a decimal time system. Svalbard watches sell decimal watches that use the system.
