Rolex Day date
Had the chance to purchase this rare beauty. reference number 18308 with a bark finish. Still looks pristine for a 35 year old watch.

I seem to recall the bark finish would minimize scratches. A friend who was the GM of an upscale menswear shop celebrated his 50th birthday with that exact model Rolex D/D back in the early 90s. Nice watch but the enthusiasts who worked with him used to joke about his “modest” timepiece behind his back. Guys here in Toronto who shopped at Harry Rosen might remember Johnny with his gold watch and lit cigarette when you could smoke anywhere you wanted to light up.
