JLC 40mm Dress Watch 🌳

Is it just me or do you feel that JLC automatic dress watches have very similar flimsy hollow feel as Nomos automatic pieces (noisy rotor, etc). What do you guys think?

May sound blasphemous, but my Frederique Constant has more heft than JLC and Nomos.

Regardless, this piece has one of the best Looking dials - clean and simple. I love the 40mm size, oh and how thin it is.

It looks great anyway! Have only briefly tried on a 36mm Master Control Calender, it certainly felt dressy and not a watch to knock around. I loved the detail in the gold rotor and overall finish.

I want to see and feel this one in person. I suspect it is just too boring for me even if it is well made. Don’t really seem to connect with the JLC aesthetic personally. This one should also be smaller in my opinion since it is date only.

Completely agree apart from the Reverso Monoface Smallseconds which I adore and is on my list.

Thats true, I completely forgot about reversos - they are solid pieces.

I think that looks the business!

The backs beautiful. I give them that.

The back does look pretty nice.

I cannot judge if it is as loud as a Nomos, but at my Polaris I can feel the rotor if I move the arm fast. On my Glashütte Original it is even more.

First, that’s a lovely watch. That dial! I can’t speak to the idea of “heft“, as that’s pretty subjective and opinions are probably all over the map. However, your concern over the rotor is likely justified. that “hollow feel” and noise you are describing could potentially be an issue with the rotor bearing. It may be worth having it checked over by your AD or a repair person you trust.

This is the first JLC model that has come out that I like more than my own from 10 years ago:
