...those other reversos

Most of us are either not able or not prepared to cough up the needed funds for a JLC reverso. I was reminded of that when I watched the other day JOMW reviewing Vario's version of the reverso, apparently a quartz. I understand that Rotary also made a quartz reverso at some time.

Jody did mention in passing an Ali version of the reverso, and I suspect he was referring to the depicted Oupai, which is actually a mechanical watch.

Oupai is not a new brand, but the usual suspects on youtube pretty much never review Oupai watches. With £360 the Oupai is certainly "affordable", but not exactly cheap. Does anyone here own one? Other experiences with the brand? Other non-JLC reversos to report about?

P.S. I am aware that the word "affordable" is loaded, but within the confines of first-world watch collectors it would typically describe the range between $200-$1000. Yes, for most people in the world this is already beyond actual affordability, but then I watched a youtube short where some young twat referred to a $15K Rolex as "entry-level".

I watched the video as well and while the idea of a reverso style watch is appealing, I don’t know if I would actually spend the money on one.

Not sure what they go for but if you like vintage watches Hamilton used to have a license to use JLC Reverso cases. I believe the model was called Otis.

A little thick, but I like it a lot. Quartz is also pretty nice especially if you have a lot of watches and needing to calibrate two of them at the same time would waste too much time. The strap is thin and feels nice too.

That is possible, but TBH I didn't think of that. Jody did't mention that either, and if someone knows his way around Ali, it's him.The counterfittors on Ali tend to be more brazen, say something like "with logo" on their listing, where they make sufficiently clear what logo they refer to. I have even seen seller's requests to not put fotos in customer reviews.

The Oupai also has an ebay listing, with photos. No insinuation that the logo is fake, so frankly I'd be surprised if it were.

The Vario is surprisingly expensive for what it is. Likely the cost is driven by the engineering to have a movement that drives both sides. I do love the Reverso tribute, so I understand the appeal.

The vario is pretty cool for what it is. The founder is a decent chap too.
