Stowa and Halios are both great brands that have value, versatility and look good on smaller wrists.  The Halios Universa would be first choice in the silver/white dial.  It comes with a great bracelet or if you prefer it's a strap monster and can take nearly any strap style.  

The Stowa Marine series is equally nice. A great hand wound movement. Another great piece is the Partitio.

Congrats on your nuptials.  I vote to wear it as is; that's how it was gifted. 

So are all current World Timers about to become antiques? 

If my math is right, 6 time zones will have the wrong city description. I've always liked the idea of buying a World Timer one day but not if a significant number of the cities are incorrect.  

I believe I read that a lot of the 2500 Omega movements are getting automatically replaced when they are sent in to Omega service. I’m not sure I would worry about potential issues with the original movement if you’re likely to get a brand new improved movement in the watch during service.

I wonder if regular models are made for mass appeal to the general public and that the quantities involved would create financial issues if those versions were unappealing.  Maybe limited additions allow manufacturers to be more artistic and creative because the quantities are small & the financial risk is also small. So that allows them to really take creative risks that sometimes pay off with really great limited editions. 
 

Another option is that the same models that you like, everybody else likes and therefore they are scarcer because of popularity.
