Inspired by all the SOTC posts I’ve been seeing on here so I thought I’d add my own. Currently 14 pieces, and thinking of: Adding the steel oxblood Or...
Would you believe me if I told you that I got most of these pieces through careful research and friends’ suggestions just before YouTube picked up on them? 😂 I do see your point, though, as many of these are quite popular.
My thoughts on the IWC Spitfire: I like the size and the simplicity of the dial, and — I have to admit — this was a brand name purchase. I knew I wanted an IWC watch, but had limited options given my smaller wrist. Of the available options, the Spitfire spoke to me the most; I also considered the Pilot 36, but preferred the army green strap and faux patina.
If you just want a pilot’s watch without consideration for the brand, get the Laco, as the Spitfire will cost you a hefty premium comparatively. But if you like the Spitfire for what it is, then I suppose only the Spitfire would do.
Yep, I reached my ideal collection pretty quickly. Besides the two potential moves in the next few years mentioned above, nothing has caught my attention.
