I became a watch enthusiast while in college in the 90's with my graduation watch, an Omega Speedmaster. My travels have exposed me to various and wonderful brands, and many my enthusiasm got the better of me: Heuer, Alpina, Anonimo, Certina, Rado, Mido, Dubois et Fils, Nivada Grenchen, Raymond Weil, Tudor, IWC, Edox, Hanhart, Omega and even a Rolex. I love the history of the brands as well as the functionality of a well made tool watch. I don't consider myself a collector, just an absolute enthusiast.

It's nice to see your comment about Edox, I happen to be a big fan of the brand. I have a SkyDiver Neptunian diver and a bronze North Sea 1967 diver and they are always on my wrist. I own an Omega Seamaster and Tudor Pelagos (great divers) but I also really appreciate the 'other' Swiss brands that make quality watches. I also wear Mido, Certina, Rado and Alpina, great watch brands all. To your point, you really don't need to spend a huge amount of money to get a really nice Swiss watch.
