Rediscovering a fascination from shining wrist objects from when I was a kid, when my grail was a dress Doxa in a boutique. I never got the Doxa, nor did I ever find it again.
Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?
It was a promotional quartz digital watch with some random pharma product, but I didn't know nor care - it was a gift from my aunt from US, and we had nothing like this in the eastern block. I remember it was round with a square opening for the digital time readout and the text "it's about XX:XX time" written on the grey plastic above / below the display.
Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?
Don't be afraid to talk to the watchmakers / dealers. What's the worst that can happen?
Q: What is your grail watch and why?
My grail is still that dress Doxa I saw in the shop display some 25 years ago, that I couldn't afford. Now even if I could afford it, I probably will not recognize which one it was. And that's the purpose of a grail, to not reach it.
