Popov Watch Bands - A Mini Review
I'm Canadian and our economy isn't great at the moment so I try to support Canadian Business as much as possible. Consequently, I've been on the hunt for a Canadian made leather watch band that blows me away. I think I found it with Popov Leather.
Popov Leather is a company in Nelson BC offering Handmade Leather products. They make wallets, phone cases, belts, desk pads, ... , and watch straps.
They only offer one style of watch strap that is a two piece leather strap that uses Zulu Style loops and has no taper. Obviously this style does not work with all watches and probably would be goofy looking on a dress watch. However, it looks great on a Field Watch, Pilot Watch, or Dive Watch (for those like me that think leather is fine on a Diver). I would not consider them super affordable at $87 CAD or about $65 US. However, despite costing a bit more than some other options and only offering a limited range of styles this has become my favorite leather Watch Band.
The band is made of thick high quality leather that is very supple and comfortable on wrist. By far the best quality leather I've had on a watch band beating previously purchased Horween Leather Straps. The hardware seems very very solid nothing is bending or damaging those loops at least nothing that isn't going to destroy your arm.
In summary, I was impressed enough that I wanted to share my thoughts on the product.
- Cost: bit on the high side but you get what you pay for in life
- Style Options: very limited, if you don't like that style of band your out of luck
- Service: outstanding
- Construction: outstanding
- Comfort: outstanding
