IWC Pilot strap suggestions

I am seeking suggestions.

This stock strap is a bit on the dressy side. I'm looking for something with stitches or rivets. Probably leather (evil, I know). I imagine the IWC straps are costly - worth it? Many thanks!

Also, might want to look at Barton Watch Bands or Ritche Watch Bands.

Check out Haveston straps, they make vintage military-inspired straps with rivets, thick leather, steel keepers, etc. Their NATOs are also top-of-the-line with great colors

OEM straps are $287 cad for 20mm leather strap.

I had used a company from Germany at one point for a bob watch strap full revisits and quality was top notch. Website is old but prices are good. Use the filters and find a strap for that awesome watch. https://www.watch-band-center.com/watchstrap-h1003-BOB-Watch-Bands.html

You have a terrific watch..Spend the money and get a good strap..Something for 29.00 from Amazone is not the answer. Are you thinking something that is on the Big Pilot?

Ha! You wrist can totally do justice to a big watch. I have a 6.75" / 17cm wrist circumference, but I LOVE my SBGC249, which is on a chunky crazy horse strap.

Image

45.3mm diameter, 15.8mm thick, and 52.6mm lug-to-lug. Wears like a dream! But, only because it's titanium.

The only reason, IMHO, there's this move to smaller watch sizes is...

  1. Big watches were fashionable for a generation

  2. Market for big is saturated - for us enthusiasts, we got enough, and for normal people who own 1 watch, they have 1 biggish watch, and that's all they'll ever need

  3. How can watch manufacturers sell more? Convince everyone that what they already have is unfashionable!

Big watches can be too heavy and uncomfortable. But, that's only because they're so robust and well-built due to modern manufacturing techniques. If you ever handle a vintage Rolex, it feels like a Moonswatch.

So, the solution is simple: titanium!

But, watch manufacturers haven't moved to titanium because...

  1. The public tends to associate light weight watches with fakes - if you ever hand over a Chinese fake to someone, the first thing they'll say is, "Wow! It's actually heavy - it feels so real!"

  2. Titanium is much harder to machine and to polish than stainless steel, and if the public will pay top dollar for stainless steel, why waste time on a more expensive material?

This is my next watch, and it's even bigger than the SBGC249!
