Q: How did you get into watch collecting?

My grand father was a watchmaker. I have also lived 9 years in the watchmaking mecca (Switzerland), therefore I have always been surrounded by watches, timepieces and clockwork since a young age.

Q: What was the first watch you ever owned?

First automatic: Seiko 5, First mid-tier luxury: Montblanc Hรฉritage Chronomรฉtrie Ultra Slim, First proper luxury Swiss watch: Zenith El Primero

Q: Do you have a watch with a particularly interesting story behind it?

Each watch I own comes with its story. Between the watch I wore whilst visiting the Nativity church in Bethlehem, the one I wore the day my son was born, the one I have waited for 18 months after turning it down once before, the one I bought over a new friendship, the one I bought as a hommage to my watchmaking grand-father who told me a special story around a brand few months before he died, my first Rolex, etc. I have as many interesting stories as I have watches...

Q: What is one piece of advice you have for someone just getting into watches?

Take your time, "patience is a golden path"... Do your research but also, from time to time, follow your heart.

Q: What brands have been getting your attention lately?

Habring2, Simon Brette, Zenith and Omega

Q: What is your grail watch and why?

It's certainly not static. My grail watch is probably the next one I desire and can afford in a 15-24 months timeframe. I always converted few of my previous grails into watches that I now own. It's a slow process... My grail used to be a Zenith El Primero that became my first luxury watch after which it was an Omega Moonwatch which also became part of my collection, than a Rolex Datejust 36 fluted with diamonds, etc. Now I'm looking at a Patek Grand Complication 5320G and a Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chrono 26315ST...
